Finally Circling Back to New Year’s Resolutions

Every time I get very focused on a new client, it takes over all my mindshare. That doesn’t mean that I’m not thinking deep thoughts, but my time goes elsewhere. One of my resolutions this year was to spend more time on MY OWN projects.

We are in the first phase of empty nesting with our youngest child having started college last fall. Then there was the wedding of my oldest daughter and then the holidays came and went. Steve and I are finally getting a glimpse of what life looks like after kids move on with their lives. I’ve got no more excuses for focusing on the things I’d like to devote more time to.

So now that it’s the end of February, I’m going to hit those New Year’s resolutions hard.  Here’s what ‘m committing to:

  1. Spending 3 hours per week writing. I may not always publish, but I’ll be writing down my thoughts. No pressure on length.
  2. Sourcing 2 – 3 great business-related social posts per week. I’ll plan and schedule those articles just like I do for my clients
  3. Make a concerted effort to get on a board
  4. Find a way to volunteer in the community
